Knappogue Castle 16 year old is aged for a minimum of 14 years in bourbon barrels, then finished in Oloroso sherry casks to complete a minimum of 16 years. This adds nutty and complex sherry notes.
Tasting Notes: Aromatic, malty and fruity. On the palate,
deep and complex with sherry maltiness along with fruity and slightly sweet notes. The finish is long with some sweetness lingering.

This special-edition whiskey matured for 14 years in former Bourbon cask, then spent additional time in oloroso Sherry casks. The end result is a vanilla-caramel scent and relatively dark flavors. Oak, caramel and toffee dominate, with baked pear in the middle and drying to vanilla, cocoa and clove on the finish.
