Glenelly Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2021

The 2021 Chardonnay Estate Reserve comes from vines on alluvial soils matured in 500-litre oak casks with little toasting, around 19% new oak. Luke O'Cuinneagain plays around with the ferment to build a selection with different viscosities, and it goes through around 60% malo. This has an attractive nose that is focused and taut with fine mineralite. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, impressive tension, quite primal on the finish and probably needs another 12 months in bottle.

A delicate nose opens with aromas of jasmine and light notes of peach. The palate has weight and shows notes of butter, vanilla and chamomile. Fruit flavors of peaches are subtle. It's creamy and has a gentle acidity.
