A magnificent dark ruby color. Soaring from the glass are deep, complex aromas of loamy forest floor, dried mushrooms, cigar box, black tea and a fresh fruit medley of blackberries and blueberries. Joining the mix is a panoply of sweet baking spices. On the palate, there is a wonderful core of sweet fruits, spices and umami-tinged savory flavors. Knitting it all together is a seducingly silky texture and a thrilling natural acidity that ensures the wine finishes juicy and succulent.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Le Pre Du Col Vineyard comes from a site with three different soil types and more shale and shallow soils. It shows off a pristine but more savory profile, with notes of mossy forest floor, preserved red cherries, and crushed flowers. It has a good bit of mineral texture, with slightly broader shoulders but a chiseled feel, and it's mouthwatering and fresh, with great underlying, fantastic, balanced length. It's going to age gracefully over the next 15 or more years. Bergstrom has been making this wine since 2018.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Le Pre du Col Vineyard is soy in the glass, slowly blossoming with hints of wild strawberry, wilted violets, savory spice and wet stone. It's lifted and finessed, with saline mineral tones up front that introduce its core of dark wild berry fruit, gaining a pretty inner sweetness over time. The 2022 firms up through the finale, leaving a coating of fine-grained tannins as a pleasantly bitter twang of tart blackberries slowly fades. Patience will be required to tame this savory beast.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col Vineyard is elegant and energetic. It's scented of blueberry and pomegranate, while tones of licorice, orange peel and bitters emerge as it spends time in the glass. The light-bodied palate is delicate and silky with mouthwatering acidity and detailed, spicy flavors.
