Pira is a historic vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, the central village in the Barolo area. It is the perfect habitat for our concept of viticulture, respectful of the life of the soil. The plot is protected upstream by the Rocche di Castiglione Falletto and downstream by a small forest.
The plants for this wine are over 25 years old. The vines are exclusively of massal origin, with wood obtained by pruning the old vines of this vineyard.

The 2018 Barolo Pira boasts a pale ruby and offers notes of preserved strawberries, sweet herbs, flowers, and lavender. It has lovely purity on the palate, revealing fine tannins and balanced, fresh acidity with a weightless feel. I quite prefer this wine to both of the Paje wines. It's fantastic to enjoy now, but it's going to benefit from time. Drink 2025-2045.

The 2018 Barolo Pira is bright, focused and linear. A bit light and nervy, as wines are in this vintage, but also expressive. Tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers and chamomile all grace this taut, nervy Barolo Pira. This is an especially ethereal Barolo. Very pretty, and it has plenty of drive.
