Chateau-de-Chambert Cahors Grand Vin 2018

This powerful, full-bodied wine has a fine elegance with a plethora of black fruits. Though dense, it shows good acidity and a fresher end, but it needs to age further, so drink from 2024. Organic.

The 2018 Grand Vin, composed solely of Malbec grown on limestone, clay and red clay soils, exudes a spicy bouquet of cedar, oak, pepper and dark berries. This medium to full-bodied Cahors is deep and firm, underscored by an assertive tannic structure that leads to a robust, dense finish. Aged for 18 months in foudres and wooden tanks, this wine will benefit from some time to mellow.

Slightly dusty nose of licorice, plums, vanilla, cedar and blueberry pie. Some lemon peel, too. Medium-to full-bodied with ripe tannins. Fruitier finish. Malbec. Drink now.
