Alta Mora's 2023 Etna Bianco is pure Carricante, the native white varietal of Mount Etna's volcanic slopes in Sicily. This wine spends ten months on its fine lees in stainless steel, drawing from fruit across three vineyard parcels on the north face of the volcano. The 2023 vintage brought heat to the mountain, and you feel that warmth throughout the wine's structure.
The nose opens with waxy stone fruit, peach and pear, underscored by a subtle spice and white floral notes. On the palate, the wine shows unexpected richness and texture, softer and more voluptuous than the spare profile you might expect from the region. Minerality runs through the center, balanced by zesty lemon acidity and a saline streak that keeps things bright. Yellow fruit, pineapple and apricot, emerges on the mid-palate, followed by a clean finish touched with lemon peel and mint. This is a wine with presence and length, precise despite its generosity.

The fruit used here represents an informal blend from the Contrade Arrigo, Verzelle and Piano dei Daini. This wine shows a golden straw color with medium texture and a little extra heft from a hot vintage that you feel over the palate. It offers waxy aromas of sweet peach and poached pear. There is more richness here compared to your standard Etna Bianco. Production is 40,000 bottles.
