Anakota's 2015 Helena Dakota Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Knights Valley in Sonoma County. This is a medium-bodied wine built on firm, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity, structured to age gracefully over the next several years.
The nose opens with char and roasted nut aromas layered over dark berries, cassis, and violet. The palate deepens with mineral and earthy elements, smoke, graphite, gravel, even a hint of menthol, that give the wine considerable complexity beyond its plush fruit core. Blackberry and a touch of incense weave through, leading to a finish marked by mineral tone and impressive length. The tannins are still firm and will benefit from time in bottle, making this a wine worth cellaring.

Very deep purple-black in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota Vineyard has a compelling savoriness of char-grilled meat and roasted nuts on the nose with a core of crème de cassis, violets and crushed plums plus a touch of garrigue. Medium-bodied and tautly structured with firm, fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, it has a incredible depth of primary fruit and earthy layers, finishing with incredible length and a lovely mineral hint. 432 cases produced.
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota Vineyard is laced with a host of mineral and soil-driven elements that add considerable nuance to the dark, plush fruit. Smoke, graphite, gravel, incense, blackberry jam and menthol give the 2015 its layered, beautifully expressive personality. I would prefer to give the 2015 a few years in bottle to allow the tannins to soften. This is another impressive showing from Anakota and Pierre Seillan. (AG)
