Description

Tignanello is Marchesi Antinori's Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The 2022 vintage, which favors concentration and ripeness, has shaped a wine of considerable presence and textural depth.

Dark fruit dominates, blackcurrant, cherry, plum, anchored by mineral spine and savory undertones of graphite, earth, and crushed herbs. The palate is full and generous, wrapped in velvety tannins that feel refined rather than harsh. There's energy and density here, held in check by minerality and a touch of white pepper and mint that give the wine sophistication and lift. The finish shows structure and slight astringency now; the wine rewards patience as its wood and alcohol warmth settle into the frame. This is Tignanello at its understated, elegant best, built for the medium term.

Rich and fruit-forward, the Marchesi Antinori 2022 Tignanello very much respects the vintage that tends to deliver more concentration and volume overall. It delivers extra fruit weight with a velvety, satiny feel over a generous mouthfeel. Tignanello offers blackcurrant and cherry, but there is a mineral note that keeps things focused. This is a beautiful expression of the vintage, with excellent work done to execute soft tannins, texture and length.

There’s extraordinary energy in this wine. It displays a dark nose of black cherries, bramble fruit, violets, forest, licorice, bark, carob and leather. Density and tension dominate the full-bodied palate, with firm, velvety tannins. It’s slightly austere in the finish at the moment, yet it’s crunchy and full of potential. Try from 2026.

Tignanello in 2022 is a blend of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. Pot-pourri-infused red and black berry aromas introduce a succulent palate of good intensity. It's well balanced and bright, with cashmere tannins supporting a core of sapid hedgerow berries outlined by crushed rock minerality and bitter herbs. The finish is slightly disjointed, displaying a touch of alcohol warmth and wood which is yet to fully integrate, but given time it should come good.
