Lazio doesn't often get the spotlight among Italy's red-producing regions, which makes a bottling like this worth a look. This is a 2024 red from the Appia Antica 400 label, grown in the countryside south of Rome and made in a style that leans fresh and savory rather than heavy.
The nose opens on crushed raspberry, smoky grilled herbs, and a streak of graphite. There's real density on the palate, though it stays lively, with ripe wild berry fruit carried by a chalky, mineral edge. Tannins are gentle, the finish runs long, and a rosy floral note lingers underneath it all.

The 2024 Rosso Appia Antica 400 displays crushed raspberries, smoky grilled herbs and graphite. The palate is dense but fresh with ripe wild berry fruits and chalky mineral tones. It tapers off just lightly tannic with lovely length and rosy inner florals. (Vinous, June 2026)
