Godello is Galicia's answer to a serious white, and in Valdeorras it takes on real weight and cut. This one comes from old vines rooted in slate soils and planted back in 1940, a small production that Avancia treats more like a Burgundy than a simple regional pour. The 2024 spent its early life on the lees in French oak puncheons and demi-muids, which is where much of its texture comes from.
The nose leans almost Chardonnay-like, apple and pear and pale orchard fruit lifted by toast, baking spice, and a whisper of dried herb and hay. On the palate it is creamy and pure, medium-bodied but layered, with a floral edge and a focused, deep finish. There is enough structure here that a few years in the bottle will only add to it.
The 2024 Godello Nobleza comes from slate soils planted in 1940 in Valdeorras. Aged eight months on lees in French oak puncheons and demi-muids . It opens with barrel tones alongside apple, pear, white fruit and a touch of herbs. This is creamy, pure, fruity, deep and layered. (Vinous)
From old vines planted in 1940 across two vineyard sites in the center of the appellation, the 2024 Godello Nobleza offers a Chardonnay-like nose of apple and toast and is an equally focused, complex wine, barrel-fermented on the lees for 10 months. A small production, it is quite floral and medium-bodied, with baking spice, dried herb, and hay teased along its edges. This will benefit from further time in bottle; drink 2028-2034.
