Description

Sonoma County has a way of giving Pinot Noir both lift and depth, and this bottling from Banshee Wines works in that register. It is a still red, all Pinot Noir, from the 2024 vintage, made in a medium-bodied, accessible style meant to show well young.

Expect a pour that leans toward bright fruit, dark cherry and plum threaded with blackberry and a floral note of violets. There is energy here: firm but well-framed tannins, fresh acidity, and a savory edge of dried herbs and graphite that keeps the fruit from going soft. Generous and a little bold, it drinks easily now.

Pouring a medium ruby color, the 2023 Pinot Noir Sonoma County is forward in the glass, with bright aromas of preserved cranberries, orange zest, cinnamon, and red flowers. The palate has lovely energy within a medium-bodied frame, and it has a refreshing feel, with its spices and chalky texture coming through on the finish. It’s a fantastic value to drink over the next couple of years. (Jeb Dunnuck, July 2025)
