Eden Valley sits in the cooler highlands above the Barossa, and its Shiraz tends toward structure and lift rather than sheer heat. This is the Love Over Gold bottling from Barr-Eden, its second vintage, a 2015 that was hand-destemmed and raised in a single three-year-old Sylvain puncheon, a gentle approach meant to let the fruit speak without a heavy oak overlay.

The nose opens with pencil shavings and dried herbs framing a core of dark cherry and blackberry, then shifts savory in the glass toward roasted meat, mocha, and black olive. The palate is full-bodied but never heavy, lush and lithe at once, with fine-grained tannins that smooth into silk across a long finish.
