Blue Rock Vineyards' Baby Blue Blanc from Sonoma Coast is a white blend built on Sauvignon Blanc, with Semillon and Viognier adding dimension to the 2023 vintage. The mix tilts toward the aromatic end of the Sauvignon spectrum, softened by the textural generosity of its blending partners.
The wine arrives in a pale straw hue and opens with tropical fruit notes, guava and tropical flowers, alongside candied grapefruit zest. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and round, with ripe fruit character that stays clean and focused through the finish. This is a wine at its best in its youth, meant to drink well over the next few years while its bright, fruity personality is still vivid.
A blend of Sauvignon Blanc with 16% Semillon and 6% Viognier, the 2023 Baby Blue Blanc is a bright silver straw color and offers tropical notes of guava, tropical flowers, and candied grapefruit. Medium-bodied, it’s ripe and rounded on the palate, with a clean finish. It’s going to show its best over the next 3-4 years. (Jeb Dunnuck, June 2024)
