Bodegas Ponce's La Estrecha is a Bobal from Manchuela, in Castilla La Mancha, Spain. The 2021 vintage spent ten months in used French oak after fermenting in a large oak foudre, giving the wine the structure and refinement that sets it apart within the producer's range.
The nose is perfumed and floral, with aromatic herbs and a character that recalls Garnacha despite being pure Bobal. The palate is serious and layered, with polished tannins that feel refined rather than rough. There's real depth here, a sense of complexity and tension that suggests this wine has the composure to age, though it drinks with grace now. A limited production from a special vineyard.

The 2021 La Estrecha has a perfumed nose with floral notes (it could make you think of Garnacha), hints of aromatic herbs and polished and elegant tannins. This fermented in an oak foudre and matured in used 600-liter French oak barrels for 10 months. It's serious, with depth and complexity, a wine that is special in the portfolio, from a special vineyard. It feels tighter than the 2022. 4,200 bottles were filled in July 2022.
