A Reserva bottling made entirely from Tempranillo, this comes from Bodegas Sierra Cantabria in the Rioja Alta, the cooler, higher-elevation heart of the region. The Reserva designation means extended aging before release, time in oak and bottle that softens the wine and layers in secondary character. The 2018 vintage here leans toward the darker, more brooding end of the Tempranillo spectrum.
Plum and blackberry lead on the nose, wrapped in the savory notes of age and a restrained touch of oak. The palate is where its Rioja character comes through most clearly, moderately structured with tannins that stay supple rather than firm.
