Borgogno Barolo Chinato (500ml) *

Aromatized wine has a long tradition in Piedmont, and this is one of its more distinctive expressions: a base of Nebbiolo-driven Barolo from Borgogno, infused with cinchona bark (the "china" that gives the style its name) along with a mix of aromatic spices. The result sits somewhere between a wine and a digestif, sweetened and fortified, meant to be sipped in small measures rather than poured by the glass.
