Seyssuel sits on the right bank of the northern Rhône, a slope revived in recent decades for the Syrah it once grew, and the fruit here comes from vines rooted in mica-schist soils. This is the Kamaka bottling from Bott, a 2022 northern Rhône Syrah carrying the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP designation. It was made with only a small proportion of whole clusters (about five percent) and raised for fifteen months entirely in used barrels, an approach that lets the site speak rather than the wood.
Expect an aromatic wine that leans floral and perfumed, with rose and litchi arriving alongside dark berries. It sits between medium and full-bodied, with fine acidity and tannins that feel polished rather than gripping. The structure is there, layered and composed, but the register is elegance over sheer power, and it closes on a long, delicate floral note that lingers.

Crafted from vines planted on the Seyssuel vineyard on mica-schist soils, the 2022 Kamaka Seyssuel is simply stunning, unfurling in the glass with surprising aromas of rose, litchi, dark berries and flowers. Medium to full-bodied and elegant with fine acidity and refined tannins, it's structured and layered, concluding with a long, delicate and lovely floral finish. This is not the most potent, dense wine from this estate, but it's undoubtedly one with elegance and finesse. Vinified with only 5% whole clusters, it matured entirely in used barrels for 15 months.
