White wine from Saint-Joseph, in the northern Rhône, tends to fly under the radar next to the reds, but it makes a compelling case in its own right. This 2021 bottling from Bott is a Marsanne-based white in the classic mold of the appellation, medium-bodied and built for balance rather than weight.
Bright citrus leads, joined by ripe pineapple and a lift of minty herbs that keeps things fresh. The palate is polished and even-keeled, medium in body, with nothing overdone. It drinks well now and holds its poise over the next few years.

A solid effort, the 2021 Saint Joseph Blanc has up-front, juicy citrus, pineapple, and minty herb notes to go with a classy, medium-bodied, balanced style on the palate. It seems to be geared for drinking over the coming 2-4 years. (Jeb Dunnuck, December 2022)
