CADE Winery's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a Howell Mountain blend that combines fruit from multiple vineyard sites at different elevations. The wine draws its structure and power from Cabernet Sauvignon, with supporting percentages of Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties that add textural depth and aromatic complexity.
This is a wine loaded with presence. The nose carries ripe black cherry and dark plum alongside hints of pine, sage, graphite, and spice, with floral and violet notes emerging as it opens in the glass. On the palate, the wine shows impressive concentration and purity of fruit without heaviness, its full body balanced by chalky minerality and a velvety, lengthy finish. Mocha, leather, and menthol round out the profile. For a young Howell Mountain Cabernet, it drinks with unusual approachability now, but the structure and focus suggest it will reward patience; five to seven years of cellar time will allow the wine to develop further complexity and integration.

Lastly, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon 13th Vineyard comes from a slightly higher elevation site and is a mix of clones, with the vines planted mostly in 1996 and 2000. As with most top 2021s, it needs bottle age, but it s just loaded with potential. Full-bodied aromas and flavors of red, blue, and black fruits, graphite, spicy oak, and chalky minerality all shine in this beauty, and it's focused, full-bodied, and structured. It picks up more violet and floral notes with time in the glass, and it's very much in the focused, concentrated, pure style of this great vintage. Hide bottles for 5-7 years and enjoy through 2051. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Cade Estate combines fruit from the original vineyard and 13th Vineyard. It shows hints of pine and sage on the nose, accenting a base of ripe black cherries, while the full-bodied palate is concentrated. It's rich without being overdone, with a long, velvety finish.
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is wonderfully alluring. The purity of the fruit is quite striking. Bold and creamy, with terrific depth, the 2021 is surprisingly accessible for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. Succulent dark plum, mocha, spice, leather and menthol are front and center. Dollops of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot add aromatic and flavor complexity.
