This Haut-Médoc blend from Château du Taillan captures the earthy, structured character that defines the left bank of Bordeaux. Built on Cabernet Sauvignon with supporting Merlot and smaller proportions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the 2019 vintage shows the balance these gravelly soils naturally encourage, enough tannin for aging, enough fruit for pleasure now.

Sweet berry and cherry aromas with some walnut and vanilla. Itâs medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit, creamy and round tannins and a flavorful finish. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet sauvignon. Give it a little time to soften. Best after 2023. (James Suckling, December 2021)
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Chateau du Taillan sails out of the glass with notes of plum preserves, black cherry compote and black raspberries with hints of cinnamon stick, cumin seed and dark chocolate. The medium-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black fruits with loads of spicy sparks and a grainy texture, finishing with plenty of freshness. (Wine Advocate, June 2020)
