Description

Château Marquis de Terme is a fourth-growth Margaux estate in Bordeaux's Left Bank, and this 2015 vintage is a Bordeaux blend built on the region's classical bones. The wine opens with a clean, precise bouquet dominated by blackberry and raspberry, marked by a briny, marine quality that unfolds with air. The palate carries medium body and supple tannins, with well-calibrated acidity and oak that sits in the background rather than commanding attention. A cedar note emerges on the finish, hinting at structure that recalls the sterner wines of neighboring Pauillac.

This is a wine with considerable depth and texture, concentrated but fresh, muscular without heaviness. The tannins are finely woven and show real promise. At present the wine has tightened somewhat, suggesting it's entered a phase of development rather than peak drinkability. This is a bottle with the constitution to age gracefully over the next 15 to 20 years, rewarding patience with the complexity that comes with time in bottle.

The floral notes on the perfume, paired with bushels of black, red and blue fruit, licorice and earthy nuances, entice you to take a sip. If the nose didn’t grab you, the luscious, silky-textured layers of ripe, vibrant, elegant and pure fruits should win you over. This is in a great spot and it sells for a song for a Classified Growth at this level. Drink from 2023–2040. (Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider)

The 2015 Marquis-de-Terme has a clean, precise bouquet with ebullient blackberry and raspberry fruit, and a pronounced marine influence that develops in the glass with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, well-judged acidity, judiciously integrated oak, and a focused, cedar-tinged finish that nods to Pauillac. This is a very fine Margaux that should age well over the next 15–20 years. (Wine Advocate)

A great vintage, warm but retaining freshness. This is concentrated and beautiful, with so much depth, clarity, and finely turned tannins. It's not the perfect moment to drink this wine because it has closed down a little, I would give it another few years but there is so much potential on display, with a richness and a depth to the texture, muscular but with freshness running through it, excellent potential here. (Decanter, April 2021)
