Pomerol sits on the right bank of Bordeaux, where Merlot leads and the wines lean toward plushness rather than the firm structure of the Médoc. This is a 2019 from Bernard Moueix, a blend of roughly 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, still and red and built in the generous style the appellation is known for.
The nose moves between herbal and brambly red fruit, with darker berries underneath and notes of cedar, allspice and a faint perfume of rose petal. There's Earl Grey and a touch of loamy earth too. On the palate it runs from medium to full, with blue and red fruit, liquorice and dark chocolate shading the finish, plus a sprinkle of white pepper. Tannins are smooth and powdery, framing the fruit without overwhelming it, and the whole thing carries a serious, well defined bearing that should reward a few years in the cellar.

Expert Reviews
Herbal nose with bramble aromas and delicate perfume to the red and black fruits. The palate is full of blue fruits with liquorice and dark chocolate nuances. I like its serious nature, it's bold and well defined. Smooth tannins support the fruit and do well to provide a large, muscular frame that compliments the sensuous core of dark fruit flavours. A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.
The 2019 Taillefer has evolved nicely since I tasted it from barrel. On the nose, vivacious brambly red fruit, Earl Grey, allspice and cedar aromas vie for attention. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a liberal sprinkling of white pepper and a cohesive finish. This should age well in bottle.
An attractive, nicely made wine, the 2019 Taillefer reveals aromas of sweet berries, rose petals and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively palate framed by powdery tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish.
