Furmint is best known as the backbone of Tokaj's famous sweet wines, but in its dry form it makes a bright, mineral-edged white, and that is the register Disznoko works in here. This 2023 bottling from the Tokaj region of Hungary is built entirely from Furmint, fermented and aged four months on its fine lees in stainless steel, a method that adds a little texture while keeping the fruit clean and unoaked.
The nose is fresh and lifted, all citrus and tart peach with a sappy, herbal edge running underneath. On the palate it sits in the lighter-to-medium range, balanced and easygoing rather than weighty, the kind of white that works as an aperitif or moves comfortably to the dinner table. Good to enjoy in its youth.
Based on 100% Furmint and aged on its fine lees in stainless steel vats for four months, the 2023 Disznók? Furmint Tokaji Dry Furmint has a juicy, classy nose of citrus and tart peach as well as some sappy, herbal nuances. It's medium to light-bodied, balanced, and enjoyable on the palate. There are roughly 3,165 cases produced. It's going to shine on the dinner table or as a starter white over the coming year or two. Drink 2026-2028. (Jeb Dunnuck, March 2026)
