Fourchaume is one of the more esteemed premier cru sites of Chablis, and within it sits the named climat of L'Homme Mort, the source of this old-vine bottling from Domaine d'Henri. It is Chardonnay from the northern reaches of Burgundy, where the grape tends toward leanness and mineral cut rather than opulence, and the 2022 vintage here leans traditional in style, favoring restraint over richness.
The nose is briny and cool, all sea spray and wet stone, with a reserve that rewards patience in the glass. On the palate it runs fresh and taut, a keen line of acidity holding everything upright, mouthwatering and precise through to a harmonious finish. This is Chablis in a classic register, built for oysters and the raw bar.

The 2022 Chablis L'Homme Mort Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru offers sea spray and wet pavement on the nose, a more traditionally-styled Chablis bouquet for the vintage. Nice reserve here. The palate is fresh and taut with a keen line of acidity, very sapid in the mouth with a precise, harmonious finish that deserves a hearty round of applause. Bon vin . Bottled under Diam 30. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Vinous, June 2026)
