Description
High up in Gualtallary, one of the cooler, elevated corners of Mendoza's Uco Valley, Malbec takes on a firmer, more mineral edge than the plush versions grown lower down. This is Domaine Bousquet's organically farmed Ameri bottling, a 2023 built from that site and raised twelve months in French oak (about two-thirds of it new), which lends structure without swallowing the fruit.
Expect a deep, full-bodied red centered on black and purple berries, ripe plum, and a lift of violet, threaded with clove, earth, and a peppery, faintly funky spice. The palate is broad and layered, carrying real concentration and extract, with well-integrated tannins that give it a textured, almost meaty grip. The finish runs long and spicy. Good now, with the stuffing to reward some patience.

The 2023 Malbec Ameri Eva Estate Organic comes from Gualtallary, Uco Valley. Fermented and aged in French oak for 12 months (65% new, 35% used), it delivers a ripe profile with blackberry, mature plum and subtle violet over a base of oak. The palate is broad and layered, with depth and a touch of tight tannins. Compared to other wines from the estate, this shows greater concentration and extract. (Vinous)
