Chardonnay from the Mâconnais tends to speak in a rounder, sunnier register than its neighbors to the north, and this bottling from Domaine Cornin, drawn from the village of Chaintré at the southern edge of Burgundy, is an unoaked take on the grape. No wood contact means the fruit shows without any toasty overlay, a straightforward, transparent style of white Burgundy for the 2023 vintage.

The nose is perfumed and inviting, white flowers over ripe peach with a suggestion of brioche and even a whisper of white chocolate. There is a clean line running through it, well drawn and precise. On the palate it stays fresh and balanced, with crisp acidity and a brisk, faintly malic finish. Not a wine that reaches for complexity, but bright, clear, and easy to like.
