Red Burgundy from the Côte de Nuits tends toward structure and dark-fruited depth, and this bottling from Domaine de la Commaraine draws on the Premier Cru climat Aux Bousselots in Nuits-Saint-Georges. It is Pinot Noir from the 2022 vintage, made in the firmer, more savory register that this appellation is known for rather than the perfumed lift of communes farther south.

Aromas of cherries, dark berries, sweet spices, smoke and toasty new oak introduce the 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Bousselots, a medium to full-bodied, lively, chalky wine built around powdery tannins that assert themselves on the youthfully grippy finish. (Wine Advocate, January 2024)
The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Bousselottes 1er Cru is also aged in 50% new oak, and again, that oak dominates the fruit profile at the moment. But there is a little more delineation than the Chambolle, a bit more tension. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, quite a carapace of new oak, rendering the finish attractive but rather generic compared to its peers. It will improve with some bottle age. (NM).
