Chardonnay grown in Saint-Aubin sits in the hills just above Puligny and Chassagne, and its premier cru wines share much of that white Burgundy pedigree while tending to show a bit more energy and cut. This bottling from Domaine de la Commaraine comes from the Les Murgers des Dents de Chien premier cru in the 2023 vintage, a dry white made entirely from Chardonnay in the classic Côte de Beaune mold.

The 2023 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru has a light wet limestone- and lime flower-scented bouquet, finely delineated and quite crisp. The palate is well balanced with a peachy entry. It misses a little precision, though there is admirable weight on the finish. This seductive, Chassagne-like Saint-Aubin is probably best for earlier drinking. (Vinous)
