Domaine de la Pirolette's Saint-Amour comes from one of Beaujolais's ten cru villages, where Gamay thrives in granite soils and produces wines with structure and depth. This 2022 vintage shows the wine's riper, more serious side.

The nose leans toward darker, earthier territory rather than the bright, perfumed character Gamay can offer, but the palate compensates with smooth black cherry and blueberry fruit. There's real grip to the wine, with enough acidity and tannin to give the finish definition and length. It's a Saint-Amour that rewards attention on the palate, even if the aromatics ask for patience.
