Gamay grown in the Fleurie cru of Beaujolais tends toward the perfumed and floral end of the spectrum, and this 2023 from Domaine de Vernus speaks that dialect, a red built on bright fruit and a light, supple frame rather than weight. Like most of the Beaujolais crus, it offers the immediacy and freshness Gamay is known for, the kind of red that drinks easily on its own and flatters a wide range of food.

The 2023 Fleurie has a bright nose with redcurrant and red cherry scents that are pure and pretty. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, well-judged acidity, quite peppery red fruit and more weight on the finish compared to the Chiroubles. This is another well-made '23 from Domaine de Vernus. (Vinous, May 2026)
