Vacqueyras sits in the southern Rhône, next door to Gigondas, and its reds lean on Grenache backed by Syrah and Mourvèdre for warmth and spine. This bottling from Domaine Font Sarade, the Les Hauts de La Ponche cuvée in the 2024 vintage, is a Southern Rhône red blend in that mold, the kind of sun-fed, garrigue-inflected red the appellation is built on.

Based on 50% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, and 25% Syrah and aged 10 months in concrete tanks, the 2024 Vacqueyras Les Hauts De La Ponche sports a deep purple hue and offers darker berries, pepper, violets, and hints of black raspberries. It's medium-bodied and has a pure, layered mouthfeel with beautifully integrated acidity and a great finish. This textured, outstanding Vacqueyras has tons to love and should drink well over the coming decade. Drink 2026-2036. (Jeb Dunnuck, January 2026)
The 2024 Vacqueyras Les Hauts de la Ponche opens with slight reduction. Time in the glass gradually unlocks black cherry, ripe strawberry, garrigue and fleshy tones. Medium- to full-bodied and gently structured by ripe tannins, the 2024 is a pleasant Vacqueyras with a lean, mid-length finish. (Vinous, November 2025)
