Chassagne-Montrachet is far better known for its whites, which makes the red bottlings something of an insider's pleasure: Pinot Noir from a village where the grape often takes a back seat. This one comes from Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils, drawn from older vines (the Vieilles Vignes designation), and shows the lighter-framed, red-fruited character that marks Pinot Noir from this stretch of the Côte de Beaune.
