Aligoté is Burgundy's other white grape, the one that lives in the shadow of Chardonnay but rewards attention with brighter, leaner lines. This bottling comes from Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron and represents the single remaining Aligoté parcel the house holds, the rest having been let go over the years. It is a straightforward Bourgogne Aligoté in appellation but a considered one in practice, dry and built around freshness rather than weight.
The nose leans toward pithy white fruit and a clean, almost linen-like scent that sharpens and opens with a little air. On the palate it is balanced and crisp, the fruit tilting toward the tropical without losing its cut. Pineapple and nectarine surface as it moves toward a finish that stays detailed and poised, the sort of white that stays lively from first sip to last.
