Pinot Noir grown on the southern reaches of the Côte de Nuits, this is a village-level Nuits-Saint-Georges from Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron, bottled under the Les Fleurières designation in 2023. Nuits-Saint-Georges tends toward the firmer, more structured end of red Burgundy, and here the fruit was raised in barrels given a lighter toast, a choice that lets the wine's own character carry rather than the wood.
The bouquet leads with something floral, peony alongside black cherry, delicate rather than showy. On the palate it stays medium-bodied, with black plum fruit brightened by a thread of citrus, a fine saline edge, and a touch of pepper lifting the finish. It should hold and evolve nicely over the next several years.
