Description

Feudo Montoni's 2023 Grillo from Sicily is a white wine made in the organic tradition, fermented in cement with partial skin contact and aged on the lees. Grillo is the native white varietal of Sicily, and this version comes from a vineyard site at 700 meters elevation, where the steep terrain and altitude shape the fruit's character and acidity.

The wine opens with aromatic lift, mint leaf, green melon, and white florals carry through to a palate that feels both fleshy and tense. There's a tropical shimmer beneath bright citrus notes, with garden herbs and a whisper of confectionery spice threading through. The finish is crisp and long, closing with enough citrus intensity to catch the cheek, the kind of youthful tension that makes you want another sip.

Vinous

The 2023 Grillo Timpa is airy and sweetly scented, wafting up with hints of mint leaf, green melon and confectionery spice. This smooths over the palate with fleshy textures and citrus-tinged white pit fruits as a tropical air of inner florals forms toward the close. The 2023 finishes with admirable length and freshness, closing with a youthful tension and a citrus concentration that tugs at the cheeks. Nicely done.

The organic Feudo Montoni 2023 Sicilia Grillo Timpa (with 35,000 bottles made) shows a bright and grassy aromatic profile with layers of white flower and garden herb. It ends with lean fruit, balanced acidity and some sweetness. "Timpa" in Sicilian dialect means "a steep incline" and refers to this site located at 700 meters in elevation. The wine is fermented in cement with partial skin contact. It matures on the lees with stirring for five months.
