Description

Flowers' 2023 Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast captures the cool-climate character of this coastal region, where Pacific influence shapes lean, mineral-driven wines. The fruit is restrained and precise, the structure built on acidity and silky tannins rather than ripeness or weight.

The nose opens with salt spray and fresh cranberry, undercut by forest floor and wet soil that give the wine a savory spine. Red berries, cedar, cinnamon, and dried herbs layer in as it breathes, alongside hints of aniseed and Earl Grey tea. On the palate, the wine is light and delicate but concentrated, with citrus and bitter notes framing crushed red fruits. The acidity runs through cleanly from start to finish, and there's still some knitted-down tannin structure developing. This is a wine that rewards patience but also drinks well now, with enough personality and length to hold your attention.

Salty fresh ocean spray with cranberry and strawberry scents on the nose. Some forest floor and wet soil accents add the savoury touch but this is lovely and expressive on the nose. Smooth and almost subtle, it’s not super bright, more knitted down and quiet right now - straight with a spiced vein that stays from start to finish. I like the succulence and precision however, there is still great acidity, but this presents more power than poise right now. 3.65pH. The first time this wine will be sold via the Place de Bordeaux. The 2023 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is another terrific wine from Flowers. Bright, aromatic and lifted, it offers up an exotic mélange of crushed red berry fruit, cedar, cinnamon, pipe tobacco and dried herbs. Strong floral and savory inflections lend energy throughout. The 2023 is light on its feet and quite delicate, not to mention long on personality.
