Gilbert Picq et ses Fils works a parcel in Vosgros, one of Chablis's premier cru sites, planted across the 1960s and 1980s. This is unoaked Chardonnay from the 2024 vintage, made in the classical Chablis manner: restrained, mineral-driven, and built to age.
The wine opens with chalky mineral notes and a hint of oyster shell, austere and tightly wound at first. As it breathes, stone fruit emerges, peach and pear, alongside dried flowers and almond paste. The palate is surprisingly creamy and textural, with a generous core of fruit balanced by a racy acidity that cuts through the finish with a grapefruit note. There's real presence here, a wine with enough structure and complexity to reward patience but also ready to enjoy now in its youth.

The 2023 Chablis Vosgros 1er Cru shows a small reduction when taken directly from vat. It eventually offers shucked oyster shell on the nose, quite strict and focused. The palate is very smooth, a little creamier in texture compared to the Vaucoupin. Touches of lemongrass and Vervane flowers lend intrigue on the finish. Real panache here and it may have its nose in front come bottling.
Sourced from a southwest-facing site planted between 1961 and 1986, the 2023 Chablis 1er Cru Vosgros unfurls in the glass with aromas of peach, pear and dried flowers, complemented by notes of almond paste. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, ample and textural, with a generous core of fruit, a racy spine of acidity and a long, grapefruit-inflected finish.
