A single-vineyard Champagne from the 2012 vintage, this Brut splits its blend evenly between Meunier and Chardonnay, drawing only the first, gentlest press of the fruit. Made by the traditional method with its secondary fermentation in the bottle, the Clos des Monnaies bottling from Goutorbe Bouillot leans on that Meunier for weight and the Chardonnay for lift.
Oak is present here, but it reads as sweet and folded-in rather than assertive, framing the fruit instead of covering it. The palate is full and rounded, carried by a soft, pillowy mousse, and it holds its shape through a long finish that turns savory at the very end. Already harmonious, it has the balance to keep evolving for years to come.

The 2012 Champagne Clos des Monnaies offers a complete expression from the nose to the palate. There is oak, but it's sweet, and it doesn’t overwhelm the fruit; it's already harmonious. Full-bodied and rounded on the palate, with a pillowy mousse, it has fantastic length and balance and becomes savory on the finish. Drink over the coming 20 years. Composed of equal parts Meunier and Chardonnay, they only take the first press. (Jeb Dunnuck, December 2025)
