Hugel's 2019 Gewurztraminer Classic blends estate fruit from the Sporen Grand Cru with grapes sourced from surrounding Alsatian villages. This off-dry white shows the varietal's characteristic floral and stone-fruit perfume in a half-liter format, ideal for single servings or smaller gatherings.
The nose opens with Damask rose and lychee, followed by honeysuckle and orange zest. On the palate, citrus fruit and zest dominate, balanced against a whisper of residual sweetness that's anchored by subtle citrus pith bitterness. The wine walks a fine line between textural brightness and roundness, finishing long and aromatic. It's the kind of Gewurztraminer that works equally well as an aperitif or alongside aromatic cuisine.

The 2019 Gewurztraminer Classic is made from half of bought-in grapes from Riquewihr and Pfaffenheim and estate fruit from the Sporen Grand Cru. Classic Damask rose and lychee notes make up the fragrant nose; orange zest and honeysuckle soon join in. The palate allows both orange fruit and zest to come to the fore, walking a lovely tightrope between textural zestiness and sweetness. Its 15g/L of sweetness is countered by citrus pith bitterness. The finish is long and aromatic. (Off-dry)
