Grown high in the Lamole corner of Chianti Classico, where elevation tends to keep the fruit taut and the acidity lively, this is a Riserva built on Sangiovese and farmed organically. The 2020 from I Fabbri leans into that cooler, brighter Tuscan register rather than sheer power, and it carries the extra time in the cellar that the Riserva designation asks for.
Expect a medium-bodied red that puts freshness first: wild cherry and cassis, a lift of violet and blue flower, and savory edges of menthol, dried herbs, leather, cedar and tobacco. The tannins are ripe but firm, the acidity keeps everything zesty, and the finish carries a saline, mineral snap. There is real complexity here, more structural and earthy than sweetly fruit-forward, and while it drinks well now, a few years in the cellar will reward the patient.

The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva pours a medium red color and shows off layered notes of menthol, ripe cherries, violet perfume, and fresh herbs. The structure is more compact and well-defined, with ripe tannins, refreshing acidity, and a salty and zesty finish. It is showing very well now but should improve with a few years in the cellar. Drink 2026-2038. (Jeb Dunnuck, October 2025)
The organic I Fabbri 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva is a steady wine that persists for the medium-long haul over the palate. It shows a classic profile for Lamole, in which acidity and brightness are the protagonists. There is wild cherry, cassis, blue flower and peat moss woven over a lean to mid-weight mouthfeel. (Wine Advocate, July 2024)
The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva is quite the powerhouse. Dark-toned fruit, leather, cedar, game, spice, tobacco and dried herbs lend notable complexity throughout. Readers will find a potent, structured Riserva endowed with tons of savory complexity but less in the way of forward fruit. (Vinous)
