This is Illuminati's Zanna bottling, a single-vineyard Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from the 2019 vintage, aged to Riserva length and built for the long haul rather than early drinking.
Young and coiled at the moment, it needs air to open, releasing minty herbs, blackberry, and a whiff of pine. The entry is sleek and quick, elegant before it tightens into a tactile grip, tart red and black fruits spreading over firm, edgy tannins. It finishes long and intense, structured and tense, primary concentration pulling against fresh acidity. This is one to bury in the cellar and forget for a while.
