Chianti Classico centers on Sangiovese, the grape that gives Tuscany its bright cherry fruit and firm, food-friendly acidity, and this 2023 bottling from Isole e Olena is a red built in that mold. Grown in the hills of the Chianti Classico zone, it's a still, dry wine that balances red-fruit lift against the savory, slightly tannic grip Sangiovese is known for, the kind of Tuscan red that comes alive at the table.

A spicy and smoky wine with assertive aromas of embers, graphite, dried cherries, violets and minerals. Medium- to full-bodied with a supple palate, velvety tannins and citrus flavors. A tight-knit structure with a refreshing finish. Drink or hold. (James Suckling, April 2026)
The Isole e Olena 2023 Chianti Classico is 90% Sangiovese with 10% Canaiolo and offers a particularly clear view onto the fruit of this generous vintage. Blackberry and black cherry are front and center, with plenty of brightness and energy throughout. This is a very nice package and the full deal at this price point, showing good fruit intensity without sacrificing freshness. The wine ferments in stainless steel and ages for 12 months in large oak casks. Some 110,000 bottles were made. (Wine Advocate, September 2026)
