Unoaked Chardonnay from Chablis tends to show the grape at its leanest and most mineral, and this bottling from Jean-Marc Brocard leans into that clarity. It comes from older vines, in the range of fifty to seventy years, farmed organically across several parcels in this corner of northern Burgundy. Fermented and aged on the lees in tank for about nine months, the 2024 keeps its focus tight, with no wood to blur the edges.
Expect a crisp, refreshing pour that opens on lemon peel and nectarine, with a faint note of praline threading through the citrus. The palate is fresh and cleanly drawn, its acidity bright and its weight moderate, carrying cooking apple and freshly cut pear toward a lightly spiced finish. There is enough length and extract here to feel satisfying rather than thin. It drinks well right out of the gate and has a few good years ahead of it.
