Chardonnay grown along the Sonoma Coast tends to walk a line between ripeness and cool-climate freshness, and this bottling from La Crema is drawn largely from the producer's estate Skycrest Vineyard, planted to the Wente clone. That selection is prized for its small, low-yielding berries and the concentration they bring. The 2024 is a still white raised in French oak, a portion of it new, which gives the fruit a frame without burying it.
Expect a wine with real texture, an almost unctuous feel that leans into ripe pineapple and works comfortably against the toast of the barrel. Medium-bodied and nicely balanced, it holds its freshness even as the fruit turns plush, the kind of Chardonnay that shows well now and has the stuffing to hold for years.

Sourced mostly from the producer’s estate Skycrest Vineyard, the core block for the 2023 Chardonnay is all Wente clone, low-yielding and known for its tiny berries and resulting intensity. The coolness of the vintage allowed for long hangtime, the grapes building up plushness and texture without losing freshness. There’s a viscosity to the wine, an unctuous ripe pineapple flavor that works well with the French oak, 34% new. In all, this is a medium-bodied, well-balanced white that should drink best now through 2033. (Jeb Dunnuck, February 2026)
The La Crema Chardonnay from the Willamette Valley is sourced from four sites across three different appellations, the Eola-Amity Hills, Dundee Hills and Yamhill-Carlton. Aromatically rich with citrus cream, toasted almond and white florals. The palate is delightfully fresh, with smoky lemon wedge, green mangoes and a soaring saline minerality carrying the finish.
