Pauillac sits in the heart of Bordeaux's Left Bank, where Cabernet Sauvignon leads blends built for structure and dark-fruited depth. This 2019 is the second label of Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste, a red made in the classic Pauillac mold, firm in its tannic frame yet approachable earlier than its grander sibling. Expect the cassis and cedar profile the appellation is known for, in a form meant to drink well over the medium term.

The 2019 Lacoste-Borie has a really quite gorgeous bouquet with blackberry and freshly picked raspberry while subtle floral scents emerge with time. The oak is neatly integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and well judged acidity. Hints of graphite give away its Pauillac origins towards the finish. This is a well-crafted Lacoste-Borie that is approachable yet has the substance to age. Very fine. (Vinous, June 2020)
Strongly scented, showing blackcurrant and black cherry, with touches of raspberry and other red fruits. Juicy but slightly more creamy and chalky. This is quite dense, not heavy but quite concentrated with a core of bright, high-toned fruit that goes from start to finish. (Decanter, January 2022)
The 2019 Lacoste-Borie is a step up over the 2017, offering more freshness and purity, with a round, layered, absolutely delicious style. Red and black fruits, spice, flowers, and hints of tobacco all define the aromantics, and it's medium-bodied, balanced, and as easy to drink as they come. It will evolve for another decade.
