This is a Pinot Noir from Chambolle-Musigny, one of Burgundy's most elegant appellations, made by Lignier-Michelot from old vines in the 2021 vintage. The wine is built with 80 percent whole-bunch fermentation, a technique that can add structure and aromatic complexity to young Pinot.
The wine shows a layered core of blackberry and raspberry, with white pepper and tea leaf notes emerging as it opens on the palate. There's real expressiveness beneath a firm finish, though the youth of the vintage means it still carries some reserve. This is a wine that will benefit from patience, two or three years of bottle age will allow the tannins to settle and the flavors to deepen and integrate.

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes includes 80% whole bunches. Somehow, I find this a little subdued following the more effervescent Bourgogne Rouge. Maybe just going through a dumb phase? The palate is much more expressive with quite a layered blackberry and raspberry core. White pepper and tea leaves appear toward the firm finish. Give this two or three years in bottle.
