Louis Jadot's holding in Pernand-Vergelesses spans nearly four hectares on a steep eastward-facing slope overlooking Corton-Charlemagne. This 2020 comes from the premier cru En Caradeux lieu-dit, planted on red clay. The fruit is destemmed and fermented gently before aging in cask, a regime that builds structure into the young wine.
At this stage, the 2020 is restrained and tannic, holding its fruit close. Aromas of plums, warm spice, vanilla, and licorice emerge first. The palate shows medium to full body with a velvety richness, though a note of reduction gives way to flavors of Nashi pear and citrus peel layered with cool stone minerality. Fine acidity and a taut, tightening finish suggest the wine is still settling into itself. This is a Burgundy that will benefit from patience and time to round out its angular youth.

Jadot has nearly 4ha on this steep slope facing east to look at Corton-Charlemagne, split between red and white. The red is premier cru (from the En Caradeaux lieu-dit), planted on red clay. The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented prior to ageing in cask. At this stage the wine seems a bit closed and tannic, and does not show its fruit easily.
Notes of plums, warm spices, vanilla pod and licorice introduce the 2020 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Clos de la Croix de Pierre (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety wine that's impressively vibrant and dynamic.
