White Hermitage is a rare thing, a Marsanne-led wine from a hillside far better known for Syrah, and this bottling from Marc Sorrel comes from the Les Rocoules plot in the northern Rhône. The 2023 shows a touch deeper in colour than the domaine's standard Hermitage Blanc, a hint of the concentration waiting inside.
Expect intensity: quince and pear on the richer end, straw and apple skin and dried honeysuckle in the aromatics, with a thread of dried honey and even a little pastry warmth. What keeps all that power in check is a dry, savoury grip and a mineral, saline undertow that runs the length of a very long finish. Full-bodied and bold, yet it stays agile and refreshing, finishing with real precision. Drinkable now, but the salinity and extract point to a wine that will reward patience.

Slightly darker in colour than the domaine's classic Hermitage. Intense quince and pear, very rich and powerful, but has a dry, savoury, edge and a firm, mineral grind, along with dried honey. Real power in this, which balances the richness. Drinkable now, but will age very well thanks to its salinity and extract. Very long. (Decanter, October 2024)
The gorgeous 2023 Hermitage Blanc Les Rocoules screams from the glass with pronounced straw, apple skin, dried honeysuckle, dried linden blossom and light pastry. Full-bodied, bold and concentrated yet genuinely agile and refreshing at the same time, the 2023 is a delicious Les Rocoules, shaping the detailed finish with laser-like precision and utter finesse.
