Pinot Noir grown along the Slovenian side of the border with Italy, in the hills of Goriška Brda, where Marjan Simcic farms. This is the Cru Selection bottling from the 2022 vintage, a cool-climate reading of the grape that leans toward energy and lift rather than weight, built to reward attention.

The nose runs darkly floral, violet pastille and sage threaded with cola and ripe red plum. On the palate it feels wiry and taut, driven by brisk acidity and tart red berries with a citric twang that keeps everything alert. There is real depth and complexity here, yet nothing sits still. It closes with a saline edge and a savory herbal push, a note of blood orange lingering underneath. The balance is what holds it all together.
