This 2019 from Mayacamas Vineyards is a still red in that mold, a leaner, more polished expression after the muscular 2017 and 2018 vintages, faithful to a house style that prizes balance and length over sheer power.
The perfume arrives first, all violets, spring flowers, and crushed raspberry lifted by mint and a streak of graphite minerality. On the palate it runs medium-bodied and crisp, firm but fine-grained in its tannins, with cassis and blood orange threading through to a long, dusty finish. There is real depth here under the elegance, and the structure to carry it gracefully for decades.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon marks a return to a more elegant, polished style following the two powerhouses that are the 2017 and 2018. Silky, aromatic and beautifully perfumed, the 2019 is majestic from the very first taste. There is plenty of depth and structure, as well as the balance to support decades of very fine drinking. Blood orange, crushed raspberry, mint and exotic spice nuances linger. Even in the early going, the 2019 is shaping up to be majestic. (Vinous, January 2022)
Moving to the current releases, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly on another level. Cassis, violets, spring flowers, and graphite, as well as a beautiful sense of minerality, all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, fine, polished tannins, fabulous balance, and a great finish.
